Shahid Kapoor candidly admitted that he did not like himself in the role he portrayed “Padmaavat.”

Released in 2018, the film featured Shahid as Maharawal Ratan Singh, alongside Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmaavati and Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji. Despite the film’s commercial success and critical acclaim, Shahid revealed in an interview that he felt “uptight” in his performance.

Although “Padmaavat” captivated audiences with its grandeur and strong performances, Shahid personally felt that he did not bring out all the desired elements of his character. In an interview with Humans of Bombay, when asked about a character he would like to revisit and portray differently, Shahid expressed his desire to replay the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh, acknowledging his own dissatisfaction with his performance.

Reflecting on his experience, Shahid shared, “I did not like myself. I was so uptight. I think I did not bring out other elements of that personality, I got stuck in a headspace. I am being candid, maybe other people liked me, but I did not.”

In a separate interview, Shahid also revealed that his children, Misha and Zain, recently watched him on the big screen for the first time. He mentioned that they watched his film “Jab We Met” with his wife, Mira Rajput. Shahid explained that Mira wanted them to watch “Jab We Met” because it is a family-oriented film where his character is not involved in intense or violent scenes.

As for his upcoming film, “Bloody Daddy,” directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, Shahid Kapoor stars alongside Diana Penty and Sanjay Kapoor. The film is set to release on June 9, exclusively on Jio Cinema.
