What: It was in the June of 2020, while the world was dealing with the first wave of the pandemic, Rhea Chakraborty was blamed for the alleged suicide of her partner, Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. While the narrative at the time made Rhea look like a vamp who was taking advantage of the actor, she stood her ground even after she was thrown in jail for six weeks on the charges of procuring drugs for the late actor.
Furthermore: Three years later, Rhea, who does not given many interviews, spoke at the India Today Conclave and shared that people are not ready to accept that one could be depressed despite being rich and famous.
We heard: That when asked if she knows the truth about Sushant’s alleged suicide, Rhea said, “The truth is that mental health is not understood in this country at all. We are taking strides and the youth is now talking about it and India is moving forward in understanding mental health. But when someone who is famous has a mental health condition, people don’t understand it. They are like he has fame, he has success, why is he depressed?”
